How It Works

Expressions is meant to be a way to decorate your Facebook profile though images that express who you are, what you're feeling and the things you like. In order to add one of these Expressions to your profile you will need to Install / Add the Expressions Application. (This of course requires you to have a Facebook account) Below is a step by step process. You can also Watch the Applying Expression Video

About the New Facebook Profile

You should know that the New Profile breaks up your profile content into sections through the use of tabs. The "Wall Tab" is the main, default tab that everyone first sees when viewing your profile. The other important tab when using applications is called Boxes. Facebook has put height restrictions on the applications that show on the "Wall Tab" and because of this Expressions will ONLY work in the "Boxes Tab" of your profile. We hate this as much as you probably will but have no choice in the matter. Below is a step by step guide for getting Expressions to work in the New Profile.

Using With the New Facebook Profile

New Profile - Previously Installed.

When you switch to the New Profile, Expressions will show up by default on the "Wall Tab" of your profile, however it will not display your Expressions images. To fix this you need to move the application to the "Boxes Tab" of your profile. To do this follow these steps:

1. Go to your "Wall Tab", find Expressions Layouts on the left of your profile.
2. Click the Pencil Icon next to the Expressions Layouts title.
3. Select Move to Boxes Tab.
4. This will take you over to your Boxes Tab where you should see your Expressions images.

New Profile - Never Installed Before.

If you are using the New Profile and adding Expressions for the first time you will need to add it to the "Boxes Tab" of your profile. To do this follow these steps:

1. Click on the Go to Application Button, on the Applications About Page in Facebook.
2. Click the Allow Button on the Allow Access? page.
3. On the Welcome to Expressions page go to Step #1 - Add to Profile
4. Click on the Add to Profile Button
5. Click on the Boxes Tab link in the popup. (To the right of the Add Box to: label)
6. Click the Add Button
7. You will be taken to the Boxes section of your profile. Click the Keep Button.
8. Click the default Expression Image to return to the application.
9. Enter your Email Address or click the Skip Button.
10. You will be taken to the main page, Congratulations on Installing Expressions.
11. Now you can browse for an Expression to add to your profile by clicking one of the menu options.
12. The New menu option contains our most recently added Expressions and the Browse menu option lets you browse our Expressions categories.
13. The other way to browse Expressions is to come to this website.
14. On the website, when you find an Expression you like simply click the Add to Profile Button
15. You are then taken back to Facebook and the application. Click the Save Button to make sure the Expression is saved to your profile.

Using Expressions With the OLD Facebook Profile

The Expressions Application Is Not Installed

1. Pick an Expression by browsing the categories on the left, finding one you like and then by clicking the "Add to Profile" button.
2. You will be redirected to Facebook to login.
3. You will first come to a page to Login to the Expressions application and then to a page where you install the application.
4. Once you install the application you will be taken back to this website where you can then find an Expression you like by browsing the categories on the left.
5. After finding an Expression you like, click the "Add to Profile" button. This will take you to your Facebook profile where you will see your newly applied Expression.

The Expressions Application Is Installed

1. If you have the Expressions application installed you can come to this website, pick an expression by browsing the categories on the left, finding one you like and then by clicking the "Add to Profile" button.
2. If you are already logged into Facebook, the Expression you picked will show on your profile page.
3. If you are not already logged into Facebook then upon clicking the "Add to Profile" button you will be redirected to Facebook to login. Then after logging in the Expression will appear on your profile page.
